Mr. and Mrs. Pat Edel began the business at their home in 1983 with one 20-kennel building. Today we have 5 buildings and 50 kennels!

I've been the manager of Kitty Castle for the last two and a half years.
I began working here 12 years ago, following a career in retail
management, when my sister Linda told me of the joy and satisfaction she
received from caring for the cats and great customers at Kitty Castle.
Since many of our clients are long-term, I have greatly enjoyed the
relationships that I have developed with the many returning cats. They
have become like an extended family. I am an animal-lover with a
special affection toward cats, owning two of my own.

After 30 years of working in the business world, I wanted to do something I
had always dreamed of -- to work with animals. I am proud to say that
my dream was fulfilled when I started working at Kitty Castle 4 years
ago. Although the work is very physical, I love being able to spend
time with all of the wonderful cats that board with us. Leaving work
each day knowing I have given our boarders tender loving care while they
are away from their owners is very rewarding.

My 14-year old daughter began helping out Kitty Castle founder, Mrs. Pat
Edel, twenty years ago. The business grew rapidly, and it wasn't long
before I started learning the business. I live very close by and enjoy
walking to work when the weather permits. I just love taking care of all
the cats who visit, young and old. They are all special in their own
way. To me Kitty Castle is like going to "kitty camp" for the cats. All
of us at Kitty Castle are committed to giving your kitty the best love
and care while you are away.

I answered an ad in the newspaper during the summer of 1988 and applied.
I have been working at Kitty Castle ever since. I have had cats my
whole life and love them! I currently have four cats of my own, and ten
goats! When I started working at Kitty Castle, I had only a short
commute from Westminster; I love my work so much that now I travel 40
minutes one way from Union Bridge! I have always been fortunate to have
worked with great animal-loving people, which makes Kitty Castle what it
is today.
